We strongly recommend using Levington John Innes Ericaceous compost for acid-loving plants like azaleas, rhododendrons or heathers.
How to use:
- For beds and borders: Spread a 5-8cm (2-3") layer of Essentials Blended Manure beneath the branches of roses, shrubs, fruit trees and bushes. Allow a 5-8cm (2-3") gap around stems. This 100% organic mulch will help the soil retain moisture, suppress weeds and release food to surrounding plants.
- Before sowing and planting: Fork in the Essentials Blended Manure to the soil surface, the bottom of planting holes, drills and trenches for an abundant crop of flowers, fruit and vegetables. Improve the soil used to fill planting holes and trenches with one part Essentials Blended Manure to two parts of the existing soil.
- For soil improvement: Spread a 5-8cm (2-3") layer of Essentials Blended Manure over the soil surface and dig in. This will improve drainage and structure of clay soils as well as the fertility and moisture-holding capacity of sandy and chalky soils.
- For vegetable plots and allotments: Spread a 5-8cm (2-3") layer of Essentials Blended Manure over the soil surface and dig in. This will improve drainage and structure of clay soils as well as the fertility and moisture-holding capacity of sandy and chalky soils.
